1895/96

This table was discovered by Rob Grillo in the local press, as were the 1897/98 and 1898/99 tables. It suffers from a number of imperfections, but is the best yet found. It would appear that a number of clubs failed to complete their fixtures. All games had to be completed by  the end of April and some fixtures may have been considered meaningless once the championship had been decided.

The championship was decided by a play off as goal average had yet to be thought of. Bradford and Hunslet drew 2-2 on the last day of the month and the light was too bad to play extra time. The title was thus shared.

Ferrybridge withdrew from the league and their record was expunged.

A more consistent table was published in the Leeds Mercury on the 27th April 1896 but with one result missing and one game to play.  Cross checking this with a barely legible table from the Bradford Daily Telegraph on the same date, and knowing the winners of the outstanding game, our best estimate of the true final table is shown below
